Exploring Artist Residencies: Opportunities in Florida and Beyond

What is an artist residency? An artist residency is a program that provides artists with time, space, and resources to focus on their creative work. These residencies often offer accommodations, studio space, and sometimes stipends or materials. Artists can work in a new environment, engage with other artists, and often have the opportunity to participate in exhibitions, workshops, or community outreach. Residencies vary in length, focus, and location, allowing artists to experiment and develop their practice in a supportive setting.

If you’re a young artist, workshops and residencies are amazing ways to learn, make new art, and meet other artists. Whether you want to explore Florida, travel across the U.S., or even go international, these programs help you grow and get inspired. Check out some great options below!

International Residencies

Ever dream of creating art in Paris or Tokyo? International residencies let you do just that. You can live and work in new places while learning from other artists. For example, the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris gives you studio space in one of the world’s most famous art cities. In Japan, the Tokyo Wonder Site helps artists with mentorship and studio space in Tokyo’s art scene.
